South Southall Primary Care Network is an NHS Collaboration between 8 GP Practices in Southall – Featherstone Road Health Centre, Belmont Medical Centre, Guru Nanak Medical Centre, Hammond Road Surgery, Southall Medical Centre, Sunrise Medical Centre, The Welcome Practice and Waterside Medical Centre. We have a patient population of approximately 58,000 patients. We have excellent relationships across the 8 practices and are working collaboratively to provide extended services to address any inequalities and to provide great care to our patients.

Non-urgent advice: Improving Access to Care 26/27

Faster and Smarter Appointments
We will maintain our ambition to respond to all online consultations by the next working day and answer 90% of calls within 10 minutes, while further improving digital access and telephone systems to reduce waiting times.

Better Support for Diabetes and Long-Term Conditions
We will expand diabetes education programmes and strengthen continuity of care plans for patients with long-term and complex conditions to improve outcomes and reduce avoidable complications.

Digital Access and NHS App Support

We will increase support for patients to use the NHS App for booking appointments, accessing records, managing prescriptions, and receiving updates—making care more convenient and accessible.

Pharmacy First – Help for Minor Ailments
We will continue promoting Pharmacy First services for minor illnesses such as sore throats, earaches, and skin conditions, helping patients access quicker treatment while freeing GP appointments for more complex needs.

Improved Access for Working Patients
We will continue to offer more flexible appointment options, including evening and weekend availability, making it easier for working people, carers, and families to access care.

Same-Day Support for Urgent Needs
We will strengthen access to same-day care for urgent medical concerns, ensuring patients receive timely clinical advice and appropriate treatment.

More Joined-Up Care Through Your GP Team
Patients will have improved access to a wider multidisciplinary team, including clinical pharmacists, physiotherapists, care coordinators, social prescribers, and mental health practitioners—helping people receive the right support first time.

Enhanced Mental Health and Wellbeing Support
We will improve access to mental health support through better signposting, earlier intervention, and stronger links with local wellbeing and community services.

Proactive Preventative Care
We will increase uptake of NHS health checks, vaccinations, screening, and prevention programmes to support earlier diagnosis and healthier lives.

Community Engagement and Health Equity
We will continue weekend engagement events, multilingual support, and targeted outreach to reduce health inequalities and ensure all communities can access and shape local healthcare services.

Listening and Responding to Patient Feedback

We will regularly gather patient feedback through engagement activities and surveys to help shape services and ensure care continues to reflect local needs.
